Saltwater Fishing
King salmon fishing has been fair to good in outside and inside waters around Prince of Wales. Fishing for king salmon should improve through May. Halibut and rockfish are available and fishing is good. The lingcod sport fish season is closed from December 1 to May 15.
Freshwater Fishing
It is well past the peak for steelhead with many fish spawning or completed spawning. The following drainages and associated streams generally have good numbers of steelhead; Klawock, Harris, Karta and Thorne rivers, as well as Eagle, Staney and Ratz creeks. The following drainages should offer good trout and Dolly Varden fishing; Control, Klawock, Luck, and Red lakes as well as the Thorne River drainage.
